During my senior year of college, I went through a six-month interview process with Andersen Consulting — now Accenture — and was recruited into their Change Management division. Ironically, I returned the signing bonus and walked away to pursue a music career instead. I got the record deal. Built the career. Chased the dream. And for a while, everything looked exactly as I'd imagined.
Then life rewrote the plan.
Infertility. Two miracle adoptions. Divorce. The loss of my father. Grief stacked on grief until I barely recognized my own life anymore. And suddenly I was a single mom — two miracle kiddos, one dog, no income — sleeping on my mother's 300-square-foot living room floor for nine months. Everywhere I turned, the message felt the same: too old, too broken, too late.
But God whispered something different. "Girl, you're just getting started."
Surviving on faith, coffee, supplements, and the stubborn belief that God didn't bring me this far to leave me here.
So I started again. One shaky step at a time. I went back to school and earned my MFA in Creative Writing. I homeschooled my children. I rebuilt my confidence. And while working full-time — in 90-minute windows carved out of the margins of a very real, very full life — I built a six-figure business from scratch.
