I thought I had my life mapped out.
During my senior year of college, I went through a six-month interview process with Andersen Consulting (now Accenture) and was recruited into their Change Management division.
Months before graduation, I was offered the position in Manhattan along with a healthy signing bonus.
At the time, I thought it was simply a career opportunity.
Looking back, I see something different.
They saw in me what I couldn't yet see in myself:
An ability to help people navigate change.
To bring clarity in uncertainty.
To adapt when the world shifts beneath their feet.
To move forward when there is no obvious roadmap.
Ironically, I never took the job.
I returned the signing bonus and walked away from the prestigious corporate path to pursue a music career instead.
I got the record deal.
Built the career.
Chased the dream.
And for a while, everything looked exactly as I imagined it would.
But life has a way of rewriting our plans.
Infertility.
Two miracle adoptions.
Divorce.
The loss of my father.
Grief stacked on grief until I barely recognized my own life anymore.
And suddenly, I was a single mom with two little kids, no income, and absolutely no clear way forward.
For nine months, the four of us slept on my mother's 300-square-foot living room floor.
Two kids.
One dog.
No privacy.
No certainty about what came next.
And everywhere I turned, the message felt the same.
Too old.
Too broken.
Too late.
But God whispered something different.

Looking back now, I can see that every chapter was preparing me for this work.
More than 30 years in marketing, entrepreneurship, creativity, leadership, storytelling, and business-building taught me something most women never hear.
